THE END OF A GREAT YEAR AND THE END OF A GREAT CAREER!

Today is the last day of school for students. Tomorrow will be my last day. I am sad and happy at the same time. It is wonderful to see my students ready to move on to the third grade. I am also moving on to new adventures. Tomorrow I retire from BISD after completing my 28th year of teaching.
I have taught in four schools during my career but I have taught at Smithfield the longest. I have taught here for 19 years. I am ready to begin a new chapter in my life and I am very excited to try something new. Thank you to the many students I have been so fortunate to have in my classes through the years and thank you to their parents for their wonderful support!

Plant Experiment

Our plants have really grown! Here they are on the sixth of May.
Right now Vinnie's has grown the most, followed by Ivie's plant and Emory's plant.
Mr Tetterton's plant continues to do well and Mr. Bicknell's is doing great also.
Poor Mrs. Tellez's plant has not grown at all!

PLANT EXPERIMENTS

On April 17th our class planted different kinds of seeds. We put the seeds in cups and put them in the sun. We looked at them with a magnifying glass and we are waiting for the seeds to sprout and roots to grow.

Six days after planting, some seeds are growing and some are not. In this picture Mr. Tetterton's summer squash is doing the best, followed by Mr. Bicknell's sweet basil.
Mrs. Tellez planted radishes but nothing has come up yet.

Our very own Morgan has competed in several bowling competitions this year both here and in Houston. Morgan came in first in the tournaments. This weekend she bowled a score of 209!
Way to go Morgan. She will continue to compete in the future. We wish her good luck with her bowling.

Spring Party

Our class celebrated the beginning of spring with a party on March
28th. The party was from 2:30-3:15. The class decorated white bags with bunnies and stickers.
Each student brought small gifts for everyone in the class and placed them in the decorated bags. The class enjoyed snacks of cookies, fruit and dips and chips. After the party the class left for the day. Students had March 29th off and teachers attended a professional learning day at Porter Elementary.
